Tried making my first pen blanks today...

The casting craft resin that I have had in my shop for about a year now poured like a goo - it wasn't liquid at all, but rather like semi-cured jello.

I couldn't actually pour it into the mould - it just wouldn't break apart (if that makes sense).

Is this an age issue, or is that expected from PR resin - I'm a newbie at casting, for sure!

Bad situation...tough luck indeed.

If it is a sizable amount...warm it up slowly, do not boil but get it warm enough to establish liquid flow, pass through a layered cheese cloth to remove the crystals, store in a different container, remove the air if possible.

Use as soon as you are able.

It has started to cure without the catalyst...retard the process by removing the hot crystals and the O2...use as soon as possible.

If it will not liquefy, then let it go.

Good luck

Oh boy I have 2 can's in the cupboard and have not looked at them sinse I moved. Wonder what they will be like. I have been told it's only good for a year, it's not been that long but how long was it on the shelf before I bought it.???

The stuff from US Composites must be a different animal. I've had mine for two years and still pours and casts just fine. Maybe I got lucky.

BTW what is the shelf life on Alumilite?
