Sad news today. Walter Cronkite has passed. I don't know how many of us here on the IAP lived their youth with his nightly news. I for one, remember watching him from the Kennedy asassination thru the Viet Nam war, to Neil Armstrong saying those famous words on the moon. He will be missed by me and many millions across the globe. We were talking about him just last week at work and recalled his last words every night,
"and that's the way it is". Just wondering if anyone else had any memories that were spurred up whenever they saw Uncle Walter.

Heard an interview with him concerning the lunar landing. He admitted he was speachless. He said all he could say was "Wow", then they played that transmission. His passing actually brought tears to my eyes. The passing of a great American.

yes, I remember watching him every night. CBS Was the ONLY channel we got in north central Nebraska. I always felt he called it the way it was, not the all the 'fluff' we get now days.
another ledgend has left us. :crying:

Those were the days when you could trust the news to give you good unbiased information. Most people now mistake fox and msnbc for news when they are just an outlet for conservatives and liberals. No one looks out for the little guy anymore.

I grew up listening to him do the nightly news. I always felt that he was telling the truth, even when it wasn't pleasant. His verbal byline will always remind me of him.
