My trip to Georgia went very very well. They offered, and I have accepted the job of being a supervisor for a brand new alternative fuels power plant in Conyers, Ga.
This is a huge huge decision for me. I have been at the company I am with now for 17 years. I have a pretty good job now, so why in the world would I want to move on? The biggest reason is Barack scares me. He scares the entire coal burning industry. (Not trying to be political, just stating an industry fact). As it stands, the forecast for power costs is astronomical if the Cap and Trade carbon legislation gets passed. I am fearful that the smaller, older coal burning plants will not be able to afford the technology (that currently doesn't exist) to capture that carbon. So, I have chosen to be proactive in my career.
This new facility is not even online yet. I have the opportunity to get in there now and actually get my handprint on the plant.
I am really happy to be getting back South, I grew up in SW Florida, and I frankly hate the Indiana winter. I know, they got a wee touch of snow there yesterday, I can handle that. It is freakin' -4° outside up here! No Mas! Once I find housing (hopefully with an area to set up shop in), I can finally get turning again. Right now, I miss several months a year to the cold.
I don't know anyone in the area, so if anyone has any input about Conyers/Covington area I would be grateful. At some point, I will get brave and venture into Atlanta, but that may take me a couple months to find the time.
Anyone want to buy a house in the country?
