Hi all,
Saw the Jet 1014 VSI on Amazon right now for 368.54
with free shipping.
it's cheaper than the non vs right now!
I am itching to get back in the groove, and need a replacement
for my old 1014 non vs that I lost.
Is this a good price? still seems high,I guess because my old non vs
was only 219.00 or so back when I got it.
Some quick thoughts, please, because I bet the price goes
back up in a day or so.:frown:

When I got mine it was on sale for $349 had a 50 dollar rebate at the time but with everything else going higher I imagine it wonrt be getting much cheaper before it gets more expensive

That is kind of high. I got my 1014VSI for $329 from Packard woodworks in April. Of course shipping was $40 and It came with a rebate of I believe $25-$30. Check out WMHtool site to see when the next rebate program is and you might save a few $$'s.

Thanks for the idea to check for rebates!
There is a 25.00 rebate good right now.
Jet shows their promo pricing on this lathe at 454.99,
so Amazon has a good price at 368.54. My how these have went up!

John considering everything the price is not too bad. We got ours on eBay for under $300 and it wasa new in the box. Once in a while Rockler or WoodCraft up in Indy will have a good deal, it just depends on how long you want or can wait. Considering everything that you and your family has gone through imagine the suprise on the faces of people on your gift list if you are able to present them with a pen.

Just a little more to consider.

Mike

Thanks, Mike
You are right,I have some special folks who
were there in June to help me out with cleanup that I'd like to
make pens for.
That, and I'm just flat out getting the "itch" !!

I think I paid $299 for mine at Amazon, but that was a couple years ago. And at the rate that metal is going up. I would grab it before the price jumps like everything else.

I paid $299, special introductory offer as it was the all new 1014vsi when I bought it. I think if the machine runs, the points meet and the bearings are good, I'd jump on it...er buy it that is! I upgraded to a good quality live center and am still using my original Johnny CNC bushings which are still in excellent shape and perform the perfect fit every time. One of the best investments I ever made

Unless you are set on a Jet1014 VSI, check this out.. pretty good price.
I posted this in another thread.

Never ordered from these folks, but get newsletter and catalog regularly.

BTW, both my lathes are Jets and love them both.. My 1014 is older version non-VS. Newer one is 1442 with reeves.. would prefer the electronic variable speed, but don't think it was available in the 1442 when I bought it.

Ok, here's a deal for you. Go sign up on Microsoft's live.com site. From there search for lathe, click on the ebay link that pops up. Once the ebay window comes up log in there and use that window to search for Jet Lathe 1014.

I did this and scanned through the selections and came up with the jet 1220 lathe for $444 on "buy it now". Click on the buy it now button and you see you get $111 back from Live.com. So $333 final cost. Oh, and there is a $25 rebate after that.
Shipping is the question on that one.

Live.com will give you up to 30% off on some "buy it now" items and lots of other items and rates. Up to 12 refunds per account. How they can afford this I don't know but it is sure a good thing for us for now.

Thanks for all the replies,
I went ahead and pulled the trigger late last night and the Jet is
to be delivered tomorrow according to UPS tracking!
I'm excited!! I Can hardly wait to get back in the groove.
(Now if good metal lathes were just so cheap.sigh).
Thanks again!!!!!

That's a good deal in today's pricing, John. The Jet minis went way up in price earlier this year. Like so many others, I was lucky enough to get mine before the increase, and I haven't seen any price even close to what I paid since then.
