Company is making me go next week. I will leave here on the company plane and land at some airport in Houston on Thursday. Probably come back on Saturday. Is there any must see pen places, woodworking or whatever?

Will be tied up except for in the evening time. Have to go down for a new pipeline we are going to be starting up that my crew has to operate from our control center.

Dustin, the Johnson Space Center is a pretty cool visit if you're into that sort of thing. Monty lives in Pearland (southeast side of Houston) and is usually happy to meet other IAP members. I like to visit Houston Hardwoods (they have a web site) when I go down there. I usually find a bargain or two.

For some good food Kemah has some nice resturants on the waterfront. Nasa 1 has some interesting food/bar establishments. The space center is a good place to go. Drive down to Galveston and see the rain forest, don't remember the name but its a big glass pyramid.

As to pen related only Mannie in Pearland that I know of.

Dustin, there is also a place called Clark Hardwoods, not to far from downtown Houston, that has a very large selection of exotic woods, both s4s and 4/4, 8/4, and some 12/4. They also have some whole and partial burls. Also you can on the s4s lumber have them cut off pieces in 1' increments. I found some great Partridge wood, there and super white Holly, along with Pear, Mango, Koa, Tulip, Canary, Highly Figured Mesquite, English Yew, Myrtle, plus several spalted woods. Give me a PM when you know your schedule better, and where you will be staying, and maybe I can meet you and of course you need to see Mannie in Pearland.

Thanksk for the tips. Monty, if I can ditch my partner that is going also I will give you a shout. Would be great to meet you. I am not sure exactly where I am going. All I know is I am suppose to stay in Houston and travel to Sweeny Refinery and some place in Brazoria County, if I can find them I guess. Corporate travel is suppose to contact me on Monday and send me my hotel arrangements and all that good stuff.

Hope this trip is better than the last one. They sent me to LA and I was lost for 4 days. Talk about a nightmare. I hear the traffic is just as bad in Houston.

Dustin,

FWIW, the last time that I flew on the company plane between Houston and Ponca City, their gate was at Hobby Airport in Houston. Though it's been quite a few years; I'm sure that Ponca City has grown and there's always the possibility that there's more than one company flying from there but I suspect it is the plane for the same company and same airport.

I will bet it is also. Being how it has shrunk and there is only 1 plane in town. LOL I assume you work for us also?

After looking at your profile, yes it is the same company. Small world.

Sweeny is about an hour drive from my house in Pearland (I about 15 minutes south of Hobby). It's on Hwy 35 about 10 miles past West Columbia. Traffic out that way isn't bad at all. I'll PM you my number incase you have some free time. Maybe we can get together one evening for dinner.

If you fly into Hobby and stay in a hotel near there. On the way out of Hobby you will pass a Mexican restaurant, if I remember correctly it is mamasita's. Maybe Mannie can correct me it has been many years. You get a great meal for the price.
