IIRC, there was federal law prohibiting settlement of the state and some encouraged folks to settle sooner than allowed. They were originally called Boomers, then Sooners.
The name stuck.

Yeah kind of a bummer. I think they were over coached. Sometimes I think the coaches need to let the guys go out there and do what they do best. It was a good game though. At least it wasn't a blow out. I guess going four times in 9 years ain't bad. You got to get there to win it. Sorry Texas and Utah, but Florida's the champions. Congratulations

Well if I am guessing the voters are going to get tired of sending OU since they can't seem to close the deal. Just my opinion, but I am and OK State fan.
