Anyone know how to create folders in Gmail? I would like to seperate my e-mails into manageable folders so that I can keep track when people e-mail me about group buys or other related woodworking stuff but cannot figure out how to create a new folder.

TIA.

James,

It is Google's mail...currently the 3rd largest email in the world and climbing. Soon to be 2nd I am guessing since they just opened worldwide the past week.

The labels feature provides pretty much the same functions as folders. When you label a message (and you can assign several labels to a single email), you can then just click on the label in the left-hand navigation pane in GMail and you get exactly the same effect you would if you opened a folder. You only see the messages with that label assigned.

I use the pop feature of gmail and just download everything to my machine. I rarely go to the gmail page itself that way all the mail comes to me with my other pop accounts, I can filter, file, whatever locally. The copy still stays on gmail too if I ever loose something...

Becca - Glad you like it! If anyone else wants to try it out I'd be happy to send them an "invitation" from gmail. Nothing in it for me, all members get like 100 "invitations" to pass out - just shoot me a PM.

On the bottom, where it says "more actions", click on the drop down box and click on "new label". I've had Gmail for years and had trouble with the e-mails stacking up, from IAP. I got something like 75 stacked and it's hard to look them up that way. I think it stacks according to the subject line and when it is from someone on IAP, it stacks them up. I'm not sure if you can divide a stack by label.
