Did you check Walmart? I thought I've seen some there that are better priced. Note that they carry various brands.

Also check the wholesale clubs like BJ's, Sam's, and Costco. I've seen it there before; not sure how it prices out, but it's certainly worth a look. Remember to factor shipping into your costs when looking online! Oh, I think Amazon is carrying Health and Beauty Aids now; you might check there, and then do a search on http://www.froogle.com too.

There are also places like Puritan's Pride and Nature Made which has special deals. Just have to compare the size of the pill (mg) rather than the actual quantity in the bottle.

Hey Becca,
Try mysuplementstore.com (I think I spelled it right), my wife just picked up a dietary suplement from there that cost $60 locally and she got it for $24 at this website. I'm not sure if they'll have what you're looking for but at those prices it can't hurt to look.

Also check out the (reputable) health advice sites. I like Mayo. Scientific studies have shown that Glucoasmine Condrotin is totally worthless for anything. It is a hype, pure and simple. Does not build bone, cartilage, nothing. All it builds is the pocketbook for those selling it. I know, I know, there will be all kinds of anecdotal claims. Like the one about the crippled up 85 year old woman who can now dunk basketballs a years after taking GC.

Frank, I know a few who take it and the result speaks for itself. Sometimes there are things that "scientific studies" just can't explain (not yet anyway).

Becca, care to update this later as to which you settled with?

Thank you.

My wife has MS and I have bad arthritis and we both take the glucosamine with msm. I have no cartilage on my hip joints and it seems to make them a little more fluid. We just use the Kirkland (cheapie) brand.

I work for a large HMO and our Med Group does not recommend the
MSM.
As there is insufficient safety and insufficient efficacy information with which to make a recommendation for MSM in this combination product. This combination product with MSM should not be stocked.
Try the glucosamine with Chondroitin instead.

When my Wife was going to the physical therapist a couple of years ago for her back, he told us to try the glucosamine and condroiton. He told us that for some people it works, and for some it doesn't. The way to find out is to try it and see. If it doesn't seem to do anything for you, then don't take it anymore. I find that it works somewhat for me, and my Wife still wonders if it really does anything for her. I find I do better if I remember to take the two a day rather than just one. We get ours at Sam's.

Now, for a nutritional supplement that does seem to work, we are now taking those eye vitamines, such as Ocuvite. First, the VA prescribed and supplies them for my Dad to help counter some macular degeneration. Then my Wife and I started taking some when we found them at Wally Mart in a store-brand version. After only two weeks, she swears by them, and after one week I am finding less eye irritation than I was having. I know this doesn't have anything to do with Glucosamine, but it's nice to see an over-the-counter that does work! Just my humble [:p] opinion!

Scott.

The building of bone, etc. may be quite true, Frank, but I can sure tell when I'm not taking it. It does wonders for my knee pain.

Dario, I think I like the site Billy (alamocdc) posted. Thanks Billy!

My private physician suggested I take G&C. I have all kinds of #$@&%^$ wrong with me including the brain lapses[:D] My joints snap and crack if I don't take G&C twice a day. Thanks for your input everyone!

Becca,
Instead of GC, try Tumeric & Frankenscence (sp?). It's better, more natural, and less expensive. This is what the holistics recommend.

Cheers,

Oh no[:0] now Gary's trying to turn me into Frankenstein[;)]! Gary, do I look for that at Wally world in pill form, or what?

How is Glucosamine Condrotin supposed to help? I've heard the same thing as what Frank posted but then again I've heard others that say the exact opposite. I've got bad knees and suffer for a day or two after we ride our dirt bikes. I'm walking more now and that seems to help some but still having problems.

Becca,
My wife takes the Glucosimine Condrotin... it's almost a wonder drug for her for her arthiritis.. helps mine too.

Billy B.. thanks for the site.. I'm going to check them out.. our only two sources in TN is Wally-world and CVS. we were buying it at Sam's in Houston, but now that we are in TN, Sam's is just too far away on north side of Knoxville.

I get mine at Costco...

I am up for a hip resurfacing operation in a few months, meanwhile my other joints are benifiting from taking glucosamine condrotin.

Costco has it on sale every so often here, about $19 for a large bottle of 900 mg. I usually stock with 6 months worth at a time then.
