Perhaps it's just me but I have seen several posts lately that use numerous acronyms or abreviations that I do not know what they mean. I have looked through this forum for a glossary and found a thread that contains a series of posts containing suggested acronyms and terms but nothing that is really easy to read or that can be used to quickly look up the meaning of something.

In the interest of newcomers as well as old-timers, shouldn't there be a document in the Library area that contains these terms so everyone can get to them easily and quickly? I'm willing to put such a document together and submit it for inclusion in the Library area if you folks feel it would be useful.

Oh BTW, this search began when I came across two recent posts containing "IBO" and "WPP". I have no idea what they mean.

Comments? Suggestions?

I think you may find what you are looking for here:

Although the two that you are referring too, I did not see on the list.

Yes, that is the thread I was referring to in my post. Rather than having it as a thread that you have to go through to find what you are looking for, I am suggesting that a document be created that contains all of the acronyms, terms, etc and to place it in the Library section so everyone can find it easier and in a more logical place to find.

And, thanks for the definition of IBO. Anyone know what WPP means?

Good idea!

I'll put it on the to-do list and have it done as soon as I can.

Yes, the way I see it, if someone wants me to read what they have written, at least take the extra 2.365 seconds it takes to actually key in a word rather than some home grown abbreviation.

I think I quit guessing at these silly lazy abbreviations years ago when I saw "SIL-BF" and had to have it explained to me as "sister-in-laws best friend"!

Rather than stopping what I'm doing to go search out a glossery of terms when I see some abbreviation I don't recognize, I usually just stop reading the post and assume it's not that important, else the author would have made themself clear.

Just my opinion :)

I don't disagree with you at all. I just wanted to make it easier for those who do have a need or desire to understand what has been posted when it contains acronyms or terms that are not commonly known to everyone, especially visitors to the forum or new members.

George, you have to stop sugar-coating your posts. You need to learn to say what you think.:wink::biggrin:

Don, the following link won't help you much with pen related acronyms but it will help with many other acronyms that are used on forums in general.

For example when I first started hanging out on forums I had no idea what SWMBO and LOML meant. (She Who Must Be Obeyed and Love of My Life). This website is a good place to go for stuff like that:

George,

I can't type 25.369978858350951374207188160677 WPM (that's Words Per Minute). so it usually takes me 5.4545454545454545454545454545455 seconds to type in the word and for me that's too long. So I guess I'll give you permission to never read another post of mine again
