A few weeks ago my son in Texas called and asked if I would like some Mequite and of course I said yes. I thougt he meant a log or so but when I got home yesterday he had dropped off this.

You can probably get some decent pen blanks from that pile. I buy mesquite for BBQ and grab a piece when I need a pen or two.

Wow, for those of us that are far from Mesuiteland that does look like the mother lode! Have fun! Good thing about mesquite it seems that the pieces that are too small to turn can be put to good use on the smoker/grill. Wow, now not only am I envious of the wood turning possibility but also the BBQ factor!

The best wood comes from the bigger/older trees. That said there will be a few good ones there. I can see root ball/base and some with crotch. You will just have to pick through it. If you want 2 tone, cut them now...the sapwood are nice yellow color that some bugs just love to eat. [;)]

Roy, why is it I get the distinct impression that I can hear Dario's car starting? You might consider hiding that stash! [:D]
