I do this every year-------The Gaint Lord Baltimore -- Hibicus comes to life.
She will have blooms up to 12 inchs round. And of course the LOML gets in the pic every year also. This plant will bloom until the first freeze.

Kinda funny----I got a phone call last night at 10:30pm asking if I forgot to post this pic.

I'm sure it's been asked before, but can you wrap a petal on a tube and cast it?

Okay, now that you're done laughing....:redface:

Seriously, I mean it. I just didn't know if there was an effective way to "dry" and stabilize a petal that will allow it to be supple enough to wrap around a tube and cast. Any of you casting wizards out there know the answer?

Yup---done did that---them we did Roses.
When they are dry---the color fades and is no where near as sharp
I still have a couple bags of dry roses---what to buy some????

Thanks, Gary, but I'll have to pass. I'm not set up to cast, and my daughter is bound to make potpourri out of it long before I got my hands on it!:biggrin:

I know lichen (for model-making use) is preserved with glycerin; the moisture in the lichen is replaced with the glycerin. It can also be dyed. I just didn't know if this could be done successfully with flower petals and have it preserve the brilliant color. I'm curious if the glycerin would react adversely to the casting material. And if dying worked, then just imagine the possibilities!:rolleyes:

Okay, I'll stop now. Don't wanna hijack your thread...
