My brother-in-law took a trip to CA and went to the redwood forest. He said there were alot of signs saying NOT to take any wood from the forest. So what does he do....he picks up a nice branch that has fell from this hugh tree. Only a small piece of the branch, bout 12" long. It looks like it has been dead for a while and will need some stablizing while turning. But the wood is a beautiful golden color with a tight grain pattern. I'll take pics of the wood and pen when we turn it.

By-the-way ya'll had'nt heard of any kind of curse from taking wood from a sacared forest or anything like that........have you?

Good luck on the redwood. I have one of those stories... I have some great desert ironwood from my grandfather from many years ago. The short story goes that his neighbor told my grandfather he new of a place where they could get some ironwood. He jumped on it and they brought back some, only later to find out it was protected!. So now, anytime I use some (only for special projects) I make sure to inform the recipient of the story, it's value and that its a piece of hot wood

Watch out in the Redwood Forest, the spotted Owl might attack you or maybe one of the tree huggers/sitters might get you. Don't work about the Governator he is to busy patching the budget.
