I got the rest of the stitches out of my hand today . . . along with a strict warning to hold off on lathe work for a short time as the skin is so thin. I'm jazzed. I'm going to have a hand I can work with for some weeks before Christmas! I don't think that will keep me from trying some segmenting and other new adventures while I'm waiting.

Fantastic, Cathy Sue. Sounds like you're healing quicker than expected. It's got to be a relief. Congrats!

Glad that your stitches are out. Be careful with what you do so as not to tear if open or do any damage. I had hand surgery last year and it took a while to use my hand fully. Having the stitches taken out if freeing, isn't it.

Just make sure to keep the area really clean around where the stitches were. You should be on your way to make some fun real soon!!!

Well you are headed in the right direction, and that is wonderful. Now don't get all excited and push it to hard and you will be good as new in due time.

I'm sure you went over all this and I missed it, but what happened!??

I had some skin cancer on the back of my right hand. It was removed. Came back. Started getting a lesion on my left hand as well. Doc did biopsy of the left hand, pre-cancerous. 2.0 cm skin removed from right hand. Margins are clear. The thing doc is watching now is that stitches and skin he stretched to close 'hold.' Its looking good. Didn't spread. So I'm looking forward to getting on the lathe sometime before Christmas.

And yes, all, it ain't going to be easy - I SEE IT every day! But I still have both my hands. What more could I want?

Wow. Well, I'll keep you in my prayers. Good luck and "get well"!

Cathy Sue,

I am one of the worst patients around and I hate having to "stop". My first thoughts in reading your post was - I wonder if a good fitting golf glove would be helpful enough to allow some turning!

Seriously though, take care of yourself!

I can post some pictures if you want to see them.

First is original right hand lesion (Squamous cell carcinoma) that came up from an old scar to this in weeks.
Second is how it looked when it came back.
