My son was given a set of Navigator rattlesnake blanks a while back. He gave them to me as he didn't have anything he could do with them and I just got through turning them between centers and polishing them. After all that work I find the casting has serious flaws. I guess thats why they were freebies. How about a crime scene analysis on this.

I am in the hospital at the moment.

But if you pm me your address I will send you some to replace those. Freebies should still be same quality as stuff you sell.

Hopefully a crime scene analysis will provide us with pics that show flaws...but like the last post, I'm uneducated but don't see a prob

looks like the scales were not removed before casting..and I would have painted the tubes before putting the skin on, but that's just me

I have seen much worse, so those freebies look ok

If you look close you will see the space between the scales looks like it is filled in with putty. I'm thinking separation from the PR. Theres a few places where the PR didn't cloud up and it looks great there, a nice dark demarcation between the scales. I'm not too disappointed, it was good practice doing blanks without the use of bushings between centers. I may assemble the kit anyway if I can find someone interested in it.

Exactly what happened. I did the same thing with my first casting but never again.
