Does anyone know how the Woodturningz Genesis style blanks are made. They say there is a organic mesh used. Anyone know what the organic mesh is and how it is used?

The top of this page says "WoodTurningz is proud to manufacture this truly unique line of new pen blanks!"

This suggests they make them for themselves.

Someone suggested that the organic mesh was cardboard and that after turning it had a "crackle effect " so they finished with CA to smooth it out. I suppose that the "crackle effect " could be a result of cardboard and if you look at the irregular spacing on the segments it looks a little like cardboard standing on edge.

I have a few of these blanks. The mesh is a thin, porous material. The actual blank has the feel of acrylester. You will need scary sharp tools and a light touch. I have had a few blow up on me

This cellular composite is an Inlace Acrylester variant with enhanced color effects and a truly unique look. The organic mesh used to structure the blank offers improved workability and outrageous color fusion!
It appears that in addition to the organic mesh there is a cellular composite. Which for a techy/geek could be describing cardboard of some kind or a paper board. for the sales pitch!

The organic mesh could be something as simple as cotton woven wide space bandages, they are using now a days.

Sounds like the mesh is used to hold it together and the cellular composite is used as a binder and filler for holding the mess together till it hardens!

But then again it could be something completely different.
