Gavel wood ?

I need to make a gavel and sound block, any ideas on the wood choice? The sound block must be a light colored hard wood and the gavel must be a dark hard wood. Thanks.

wudnhed, Sorry to hear about a bad experience you had in making the G word. I done 3 so far and had no real problems in the making. So far I am thinking using Claro walnut for the G and tiger maple for the sound block. Better luck on your next one[:)]

Hey, no biggie, I can laugh about it now. Have you tried typing in "gavels" in the search engine? There's alot out there and you might get some ideas. Good luck!

I agree, Lignum Vitae is the best. thought it translates to "Tree of Life" though.
