Gasket Thickness for Vacuum Chamber

Have every purchased to buil my vacuum chamber but the lid Gasket. Found some Buna rubber gasket material but was wondering if thickness would make a difference?

You know just like every else the higher cost for the thicker.

Choices are 1/32", 1/16", 1/8" or 1/4"

I use "foamies" purchased at Wal-Mart. It is a craft sticky backed foam. It's pretty thin.

I use door/window gasket from walmart. It's like play dough....roll and put in place. Nothing I found seals better and its only a couple of bucks.
