So I find out that I have stones and something called diraticulitus.
I go talk to the Doc on Monday. I'm thinking he might suggest removal of the Gall Bladder.
Does anyone have experience here and is willing to comment? My first thought is I need something to make bile for my system to break down the fats and acids ingested when I eat. Am I looking at a special diet the rest of my life?

Yes, Yes I will ask the Doc. No, No I will not look for medical advice on a woodworking forum. That's why I posted in the casual forum.
Thanking you in advance,

I had my gall bladder out about 10 years ago. No major ill effects from the surgery. I still get heart burn and not as much as I use to.

I had my gall bladder removed almost 30 years ago. You should not need to change your diet. The gall bladder does not produce bile, that's the liver's function. The gall bladder stores extra bile in case you eat a meal that is very high in fats and need extra bile to break them down. Without the extra bile, your BM's may get a little loose after a high fat meal.

My wife had hers removed laparoscopic some six years ago. It was an outpatient procedure and on the way home from the hospital, we stopped for spaghetti lunch at a restaurant - she was graving it. She had no need to change her diet at all - just, as always, moderation is the trick.

Amen to Lou's comments. Greasy foods do cycle through the system a bit faster than they used to. After a while the liver starts to store a little bile on its own. My gall bladder has been gone for about nine years.

I had mine removed about eight years ago. I have had more traumatic haircuts. Out same day. Loose stools sometimes as a result but I take an occasional pill that also reduces cholesterol, fixes things right up. Tell her nothing to fear.

I had mine out about 3 years ago... unfortunately I fell into an extremely small group of people who now can't eat much green foods at all. Basically, I'm now a salad shooter [V]

But outside that, I do pretty good and like others do notice the greasy food issue every once in a while.

LOML had his out last July. Outpatient and he had it done lapiscopicly (sp?). He had 4 itty bitty tiny incisions. No after or ill affects. Good Luck!

I had more problems BEFORE they took mine out. Thought it was bad indigestion,:( ended up in the ER,[B)] tests, [?]hmmmmmm, gotta take out your gallbladder, I say when? Doc hands me one of them cute little gowns, and says lets go!
All good since.

I had my removed during my liver transplant in '99. They also took out my appendix since they wanted to minimize the chance of having additional surgeries in case those to organs went south. As luck would (not) have it, I had to have a kidney transplant in '05.

No problems with any of the surgeries and not having a gallbladder has stopped my love of spicy foods.

I had my Gall Bladder removed the hard way. I had a liver transplant in 1992 and they removed the ball bladder from the donor liver prior to installing. You should see my Gall Bladder Scar it is a real winner. The scar is 26 inches long in an inverted V.

Recycle yourself be an organ donor
