Does anyone have any experience with any of the free CAD software packages? I have a need for something like this but don't want to download a piece of junk or any malware.
I know that sketch up is now free through Google. Here is the link http://www.sketchup.com/?utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-ww-google&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=sketch%20up It is a very popular cad program and not junk.
While not true CAD, I would go with Sketchup for 90% of my designing needs. It's incredibly easy to pick up very quickly and has no spy/mal/ad/kitchensink ware.
Depending on your needs, I also vote for Sketchup, Fast and easy. CAD will get you more, at the cost of more work and difficulty. Don't know any free ones only used AutoCAD
Not a freebie, but relatively inexpensive. $40 for a fullversion download. It's the CAD recommended by the manufacture of our Computerized Mat Cutter and I've used it for about 6 years now. I have found it to be user friendly and serves my needs for a basic CAD application. The fullversion demo is free for the first 45 days.
