I purchased some of the fordite recently listed on here, and finally got around to throwing a piece on the lathe. I built the pen around a barrel made of transparent acrylic (because I wanted an ink window), with black Ultem cap thread and section. Fordite for the barrel was sleeved over the acrylic, and completely sealed from contact with ink.
the cap was built in the same manner, but around Ultem. I opted for a band on the end of the cap because I didn't want to leave the fragile end of the fordite exposed. Cap finial is black Ultem as well. I made all the trim and the clip from argentium silver. I used double start threads on the cap so the grain pattern aligns regardless of which start you engage when capping.
it uses a jowo 6 nib, and can be filled via converter or by putting ink directly in the barrel.

Oh John, another beauty. I'm interested in why you selected Ultem for the sleeve. Where do you source your black Ultem?

Goes well with the industrial theme of fordite. It's also seen as higher end than acrylic by the fp gang. I can't remember where I got it. I think I just googled "black Ultem rods" and picked one of the results

Excellent work it is certainly eye-catching and maybe one day I will get there.
Well done.
