Check your stash if you have Peter Pan or Great Value from Walmart. Look at the code on the lid if it starts with 2111 throw it out. They have recalled it for possible salmonella.

My 14 month old loves peanut butter. Last week he got sick with vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever. He became very dehydrated and was almost put in the hospital. His doctor called and talked to us and said they are not sure if it was that or the stomach virus but to keep an eye on him since he had some of the Peanut butter yesterday and today. He now has diarrhea again. I wish I would have watched the news this morning. I hate the fact I could have given him that and made him sick again.

Thanks for the alert. I love peanut butter. We are almost out of our Skippy. We would be buying again soon. We'll be on the lookout. Our Skippy is close it has a 2110.

I am sure you are aware that this has now hit the national news. We have a new jar, unopened. Tried to call the company, but only busy signal. Today, the newspaper reports that a refund is available by sending in the lid to the company.
Really sorry to hear about your son, airrat. Scary when they get sick. Our youngest is 36 and we still worry!

We opened a brand new Jar Wed morning. My 11 year old was the only one who had any of it. The news broke that night so we checked the jar the next morning and sure enough it said 2111. We threw it away Thursday morning. Thursday night she woke us up crying with chills and fever and she's thrown up 3 times today. She'ok. It just makes you feel like crap. BUT...this is the first time that anything like this has ever come cclose to home.

sorry to hear that Ken, hope she gets better quick. I would get the lid off that jar and request a refund. Why should you eat the cost of it. Upsetting that a company can do something like this and we have no recourse, since I hear it is so hard to prove.

BTW Sean is feeling better today.

My son was sick a couple days ago, vomiting, diarea. He is ok now. We also have (had)a 3/4 eaton jar of 2111. Guy I work with had same issue with his PB, we live near Findlay Ohio and both shop at Walmart.

how are everyone's kids tonight? hope they're ok! that is so scary, glad we use skippy. did you guys have to take them to the hospital? hope not.....

This peanut butter thing really concerns me. Just think about all of the parents who don't watch the news or read the papers. PB is a staple for a lot of people, including children. I have an 18oz jar of Peter Pan that has the 2111 code. Meanwhile, I just opened it last Saturday when my Dean/friend was over the house. He put it on some crackers. Fortunately, he's doing fine with no ill effects. (He just had open heart surgery two months ago.

What really ticks me off is the Peter Pan website. There is hardly any mention of it. Just a little news announcement in small print. You'd think they'd feel a moral obligation to their customers. Grrrrrr.[:(!]

I'm glad that we don't use Peter Pan or Great Value. I hope that everybodys kids are better now.
It really pisses me off that these companys have things like this happen and then not only do they down play it but they make it harder for people to get their money back; I think that the store shuld refund the money and then they could get their money back from the vendor.

I agree with that!. We will probably approach the manager at the store before we send back the lid. Giant Eagle is usually pretty good about listening to people, at least our local one is.

THIS JUST IN -- as they say on TV. wife just found a not in the paper that you can return the stuff to the store. Too bad - I thought we had a good rant going there[:D]

I was in Wallyworld yesterday-----there was NO peanut butter.
Guess they ain't taking any chances.
Glad I have a good supply---it's one of the few things I can eat-----dang diet.
