WOW. You guys are something else... I just noticed this thread for the first time. I haven't been quite as active as usual lately so it almost slipped right past me.

I really don't know how to reply to this thread, other than to say that Ron will be fine.

I want it to be clear, that my recent incurrance of debt is self inflicted. I chose for my daughters sickness to be a financial burden to me.

Through this wonderful site, I have made some absolutely amazing friends, and these friends really do care. In fact, one of these kind souls has helped me in such a way that even after the financial obligations are met, I will spend the rest of my life trying to repay the "debt". Soon (in the weeks to come) I will be mounting a full force effort to restart my floor covering business. This will give me the ability to make my daughters last months as comfortable as possible by providing her with cash for whatever she may need or want. I know it is petty as hell but it is all i can do. GOD i wish i could do more.

My pride tells me to ask you to stop trying to raise money for Shana (it is for her... not me), But my logic tells me that there are alot of obstacles in the way of me just instantly providing wads of cash for my daughter, and even if i just fell into a fat juicy contract, soon even that money will be gone with daily trips to the doctor, or lengthy Hospital stays.

So, to make a long sappy post as short and sweet as possible, I would be absolutely honored to help in any way that i can. I can make blanks, i can make pens, i can do whatever is needed of me. i just need to help.

And a sincere thank you from the absolute bottom of my heart to everyone for their prayers, thoughts, and kindness.

Ron from my stand point. You have done a lot to try and help people. Heck I can't forget the gifts you gave me. The several times that you have spoke on the phone with me to try and help me improve. And I am sure there are a lot of people ( even if some liked you or not ) that has benefited from what you have tried to share with us all. And for that I thank you

Count me in. I'll donate one of my Custom Tool Rests with two crossbars, any size.
I was a bit confused as to where to send the info. so I took a shot and posted here.

I know there are some here that might dislike Ron. I don't know what he has done to be disliked from anyone. But this I know even those who might dislike him those same people have families. And if anyone of your family was going through what he is going through , they would want for people to put aside their differences and welcome any help. Please I beg you put aside your personal feelings and be a fellow human being and do what you can to assist. People I gain nothing from this but the feeling of helping a fellow pen turner who is hurting. I have seen all the post offering prayer for this man and his family. I know money is tight in my house, but I plan on doing what I can to help. I am sure that there was a point in time in your lives that you needed help and someone was there. I know that there was for me. Thank you all for the help you are able to give.

I will do whatever to help this cause................ I have kids and Grandkids, you never know what is in store for us in the future. count me in.................

I know the position Ron is facing and I feel for him.

It is a real shame that in a country so advanced as the USA working people are bankrupted by medical costs so that the people that do not work get it free.
Last time I went to the hospital the waiting room was full of drunks, bums, homeless, undocumented aliens, welfare dependents, and others that do not work.
I felt very out of place being a poor working class with no insurance but a meager income.

Next heart attack will be my last because I can not afford any more major or emergency hospital care. I will sit back in my recliner and wait for the end.
If it wasn't for my dear mother who lets me live in her house and the unreported, untaxed money from the pens and pool cues I make as a hobby I would be on the streets myself and have all the free medical care I needed.

I would be happy to donate some wood blanks to help with Ron's Daughter's expenses.
Just let me know who to send them to.

What is needed more than any thing is someone that has the spare time to be the point person, and that has a PayPal account , Honestly I would be very glad to do it, BUT "animefan" and I are behind about 30 or so tools for one show we are doing in about 3 weeks, not even counting the 4 or 5 craft shows we're booked in. If some one can take the lead and I think it might surprise them with the response they might receive, and possibly overwhelm them a bit, "Lets Roll" Andrew and I will donate two tools one Bowl Pro and one Pen Pro and I would probably buy a couple bunches of the collector papers. But we need to stop talking and start walking so who is going to be the brave soul with a big heart and some extra time, I will help as much as I can, I know I'm not the only one with limited time, this time of year, so lets see what we can do as a "Group of concerned pen turners" for one of our own.

Ken, I'd be glad to jump in and work on this. I'm just a little unclear on how to go about it and still keep within the IAP rules. Would it work if everyone sent their donations/items to the point person, then that person list them in a "For Sale" thread, collect the money, distribute the sold items, and then forward the proceeds to Ron? Am I on the right track? Let me know how to proceed and I'll handle it.

With the work load I've got I don't have extra time but I will everything I can in order to help.

Ken, As I communicated with you yesterday the response from Jeff was as you stated, so we have to find some way to do this and as I told you I am willing to help in anyways that youguys wnat me to.

Ron, don't worry about this part of it we will figure it out. You Need only to worry about taking care of your daughter and make sure that her needs are taken care of and if you can get her to Houston for those guys to take a look at her condition. I pray for her recovery and hope that Dr.s will find a cure for her.

We will do anything we can to help you. Just don't' go in hiding and try to handle everything on your won. Visit us here and let us help you to get through this situation. Sometimes just talking to us through your posts will make it easier on you.

please let us know contact info for those who wish to send things or who ( like myself ) do not have PP and would like to donate via monetary means . I want to thank everyone who has stepped forward so far. You guys are awesome.

Ron,

This is one of those times when there is nothing you can do. Your job in this situation is to spend as much time as you can with your family and take full advantage of the time you have. You can make and sell blanks later. Right now, you need to be with your daughter. Go do that and let us handle this. just keep us up to date so we can keep our prayers up to date.

I have PM'd Ken and am just waiting on his approval. Anyone who is interested in donating $$$ or products, just hang tight until we get a point person established. This will probably go for a couple weeks or more. If I am going to do this, I can accept PP, credit cards, checks, MO, or whatever else you can think of. I'll post my info as soon as Ken gets back to me.

Chris and I are working this out, I think the best thing in order to keep postage costs from eating up what we can gather is for every that id going to donate a gift, to keep it until it's determined who the gift is going to, If you have any questions/ suggestio9ns, please email either Chris,"craftdiggity" or my self, I will put in all the time I can as well as some rampant miss behaved Woodchuck that are eating up all the wood in my shop, Chris will be in charge of selling the collectors pieces of paper, there are some special tips that Chris will PM you about if you express interest in obtaining some of these wonderful collectible paper pieces. Also I think those should be listed in individual classifieds just so there is no IAP connection, but I heard the might just be one of the incredible IAP muggs that could be redeemed were some person to have the right piece of collector paper to trade for it I have to tell you Coffee tastes so much better from these muggs it's amazing.
like Hank Jr said "It's a Family Tradition"

Just an update. I spoke to Ken and I have agreed to take this on. I have posted a new thread that I'd like to be the Official Thread for the effort. I'd appreciate any well-wishing or conversational posts to remain here so as not to clutter up the business going on in the official thread. This will help me keep things in order.

The Official Thread: http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1084188#post1084188

My family and I are will to help in any way we can (cash donation, pen supplies, blanks etc.) Just let me know where to send. Our prayers go out to your family Ron.

Shana went to the doctor today, and it was fairly fruitless. They said that they need to do more testing. She is waiting sheduling a MRI-spec (??) which is some sort of special MRI apparently. And a PET scan. They told Shana that they are trying to figure out the exact makeup of the tumors or some such business. Unfortunately, I can tell them from my couch. It is called Oligodendroglioma, and it is a murderer.

I am trying hard to remain optimistic, but this just seems like such an ignorant waste of time and resources. I am not a doctor, so i don't know what is really going on. I just hope they have her best interest at heart.

It has been a long day, and i am beat... I will keep everyone updated as information becomes available to me.

Thanks again everyone, and PLEASE PLEASE keep the prayers rolling!

Ron

Would it be OK if those that want to donate cash, to just get Ron's paypal email and Do It!?
As for donations of items for sale, I will gladly make a Cebloplast Serpentine Fountain pen for the occasion, just PM me, whoever gets to be in charge> Amos
Ron, we still keep praying for you and especially Shana Marie, Amos:)

Count me in for some kind of monetary donation, Don't know how much yet but this one comes very close to home as I was recently operated on for lung cancer fortunately for me it was caught early. Ron if at all possible try to get Shana Marie down here to Houston particularly M.D Anderson. They really do great things. I will pray for you and yours and especially Shana Marie.
