For those that use a pressure pot.

I don't use one myself.
We were at our turning night and the question of PP's came up, more specifically if the castings are absolutely bubble free or are there still pinholes. So what's the verdict?
Also, do you use PR or Alumilite?

Thanks for your input.

PR: no bubbles with the pressure pot.
PR: no bubbles without the pressure pot or vacuum.
I've stopped using the pressure pot and vacuum and I'm 100% happy with the results.

No clay either Roy:biggrin: No CA coating either Roy:biggrin:

Do a good turn daily!

Don, I use the pot for Cactus and worthless wood, for all others I've gone to no pressure as you have. I've done just a few so far and the results are great, but you and I know somewhere down the road some will have both of us scratching our heads.

I still use the pressure pot for coffee beans and what few cactus blanks I do. But, the shreaded money blanks are doing fine without the pressure.

ssssshhhhh...Let's not talk of "somewhere down the road" and maybe it won't happen...naw....but maybe not.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm guessing you all cast in flat molds rather than upright?
So, PP's are pretty worthless for standard casting. That is the reason I never tried it, I don't have much of a problem either. Just the occassional pinhole.

I use PR and a pressure pot. I also get no pinholes. I will probably keep using the PP. I figure, if it ain't broke...
