To celebrate this Years 20 th Anniversary of the IAP I entered this pen into the FOG category. The pen was made from a Douglas Fir Root, found on the shore of a lake. At first glance it just looks like a root, until I cut into it to reveal its true colours.
The root was very dense, drilled and turned well but had to be careful when turning due to hairline cracks. I completed the bottom with no problems, but the blank for the cap blew apart on me due to a major crack that was revealed as the blank was turned down. Prepped and turned a second cap. The more coats of finished applied, the darker it got.
Thanks for looking.
