Well i got the confirmation call this morning! Now i just gotta get a plane ticket. It is rediculous the prices. I should be leaving out next weekend and will be in Ft. Myers for at least a month or two... WOOHOO!

P.S. Anyone know any tricks to get dirt cheap airfare?? So far i have found a ticket for right around $300. The problem i am running into is i need to be there ASAP... I am missing all the good work right now, but i gotta wait till my brother has the money to pay for the ticket, so by the time he gets me the money, and i buy the ticket, I will either have to wait another week, or pay some stupid amount of money....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

Ron

I was going to purchase some tickets for Florida, but with the billions of gallons of oil floating around the Gulf, I am expecting that the Keys will be an oil slick by the time September rolls around, so I'm thinking about new destinations now. Trying to talk the wife into Washington/Oregon area. I know it's real nice there having lived in British Columbia for several years.

If you need money, I suggest you just head down to New Orleans. I hear they are paying $65 and hour for beach cleaning activities and I don't doubt that job will exist for decades. Heck..they are still cleaning beaches in British Columbia from the Valdeez spill and that was just a thimble full of oil compared to the BP catastrophe. I don't believe anything BP is spewing out..I think you probably have 20 or more times the oil of the Valdeez spill already in the water and more coming every day. That thing is spewing like a volcano down there and if the junk shot they are going to attempt tomorrow fails, it could actually open the hole up to allow even more oil out of the hole. Why they haven't just launched several torpedos at that thing is beyond me. If it was on land, that's basically what they'd do.

Southwest Airlines or AirTran. Also, your bother can book the flight from his location, give them a credit card over the telephone and have you going tomorrow. Most airline tickets are "paperless" now, so all he needs is your full name and address.

With SouthWest, you have to fly into Panama City (aobut an hours drive). With 2 Stops, leaving Sunday, roundtrip $204. Checking on AirTran....

AirTran $301 in to Orlando... All the way on the other Florida coast. Southwest was the best deal I could find.

I have never heard of Allegiant air.. I will look into them right now..

I will not ride the bus. Last time i did that, it took 4 miserable days. I made my sister drive two hours one way to get me because it would have taken the bus 8 hours to do the same distance. I can't drive because my wife needs the only vehicle we own.

Thanks for the ideas though!!

I will look into the train, but i would probably have to fly to some other state, I don't think there are any train stations in Oklahoma...

And New Orleans doesn't even sound remotely fun or interesting, and, Well, it is sort of a joint venture kinda deal. The reason i am going to Florida is because my brother needs the help just as bad as i need the money. Not to mention I know alot more about installing floor covering than i do about cleaning oil off of sand, But thanks for the update on the Gulf Coast/ BP oil spill crisis?!?

SWA is the first place i looked. I won't have the money until Sunday or Monday. Their weekday rates start at about $400. I can get a ticket for next sunday for like $300 something, but i would miss an entire week of work.

The problem i am running into is that the prices keep going up the closer it gets to the departure date, and i cant order the ticket until my brother gets the cash, which means it will be even more expensive when that finally does happen... Not to mention I don't know if my brother could afford to pay so much for a ticket. Might end up missing the opportunity... We will see how it goes.

Ron, one site is all you need...
www.kayak.com
They search all the other sites to find the cheapest airfare.

I just booked some tickets to NY from Detroit that were 50.00-100.00 cheaper than I found anywhere else!

cheapoair.com they have pretty good prices they have been the cheapest for to trips and I researched for 30mins to an hour each time

Hey, wild man, I just got your PM from February. Haven't been back to this site since then. I go through Chickasha every couple of months.
What sort of work are you going down there (Fla) to do?

Floor Covering. Hardwood and Laminate mostly, but a little of this and a little of that thrown in there.

We are both second generation floor covering installers. Been in the trade for WELL over 15 years, and i am only 35. There are about 8 or so years i worked that i feel like i cannot count because i was just a kid.

I am pretty excited about it! I am going to make my brother a pen to take with me! Closed end JG roller Gold Ti. with Desert Ironwood, and Bocote! Should be something to see!!

Wow, That Kayak site seems to be the leader no doubt! I like what i saw there!
