If anyone is planning on buying an LCD TV this Christmas Best Buy has what I thought was a great deal. I've had my eye on a 42" LG and been putting aside a little from every show we've done this year. Best Buy is having a 3 day sale and I stopped by to look.....for about the hundredth time! The 42" I'd wanted was out of stock but they had a 46" Samsung for 849.00(50 bucks cheaper that the 42")....plus a free Samsung Blu-Ray player. Needless to say (after getting permission ) I took the plunge and bought it. It's slightly bigger than I'd planned on but I think the room will handle it ok. Plus even though I'd not considered getting a Blu-ray yet, getting a FREE one was sweet!
All in all a 650.00 savings!
Just thought I'd share a good deal with y'all if you were in the market.
Here's a link to the TV and tomorrow is the last day of the sale.

Glad you got a deal. I am not a fan of Best Buy at all, they are dirty and take advantage of people that dont know better, I know this first hand because my parents went there and got took for some extra cash. And alot of times their deals are not really deals. As long as you do your research you are good. But I am on sites all the time and Best Buy does some pretty shady stuff. I go to Video Only, I have bought 3 tvs from them in the past few years, and they beat Best Buy by $50.

Glad you didnt get the LG, Samsung is much nicer.

It's hard to beat the Samsung LCD TVs. When I bought mine last Christmas, 3 out of the top 5 Consumer Reports LCD TV's were Samsung's! Hope you enjoy your new TV. Just in time for the NFL playoffs too!

If you watch a lot of action, whether sports, movies or whatever, you may see some pixelation with it being only 60Hz. It only happens when there is something like an explosion, where it moves real fast and you might not even notice it. I'm sure you will enjoy it. The clarity can't be beat, except the LED's.

We have an LCD in the bedroom (120Hz) and a plasma in the living room. The plasma's colors are much richer and it's better for sports, but that thing generates a TON of heat!

The LCD in the bedroom is a Vizio, a brand I am very pleased with, and the LCD's don't get so hot that they give the a/c a run for its money. The plasma we had in the bedroom before this LCD heated up the room so badly that we had to run the central a/c and a window unit if we watched a couple of shows from bed.

Mick, you will enjoy that TV. I'm itching for a blu-ray player myself, but holding out for an OPPO one I have read reviews about. The startup speed is a big deal to me. You'll see what I mean when you load a disc and have to wait a long time for some of them to produce anything on the screen.

Yeah that was the reason I was looking at the original LG...it was 120 hz but like you said it's a rare occurance with the 60 hz. I had decided to buy the 120hz LG at $899 but when I saw the Samsung, and the LG was backordered,..... the free Blu-Ray cinched it for me.

Good, it's not just mine that does that!

Nice score. Now you sign up for Netflix, you can have 3 movies out at a time. And also get unlimited instant movies downloaded to your TV. We have that and its great. Get the movies one day, send em back the next. On a good month you can get between 20 and 30 movies delivered, and unlimited instant. You will enjoy it.
