I have a twist slimline I really like despite the assembly defects. But whenever I try to write with it, the refill slowly slides back up. Is there any way, short of pulling out the transmission, to tighten it up?
David; There is a detent inside the transmission. The point should extend and then retract very slightly. Some inexpensive (cheap chinese junk) transmissions don't have the detent. Simplest to disassemble the pen nib and buy a new kit and use the transmission. Slimlines are a standard item. After disassembling the pen nib, you may need to glue in the nib and transmission. put the glue on then inside of the tube, NOT on the fitting.
Also possible is that the point extends too far and doesn't allow the detent to engage.
