So I threw these together this weekend. Painted brass tubes with Testors metal flake body paint (model car paint stuff. wanted to get a bit of a shimmer in the background), pre-set the small, but sharp, fly fishing lures on tube Saturday morning. That evening, i finished by gluing the wings/feathers down around the tubes, then casted in 2 batches yesterday. They don't really photograph well because of the shiny surface, but when looking at them in person, the blues and greens look like ocean water (thought of calling the blue set "Caribbean" and the green set "Everglades". Maybe make a red set, too). Pretty nice for the first attempt with that paint.
Again, I know that the pictures aren't the best, and I will turn a couple different ones and re-visit this thread, but what I really wanted to get out of it was to show the more experienced casters (basically everybody here) and get some input on the paint choice and maybe get some suggestions on this one. I hope, at some point, I can get it down to an art to where I can be a supplier of these or other castings. But, that's a ways down the road.
Thanks for looking!
