l have just got back from a week of fishing on the murry river and had a great time and some good luck too, it is always so good to go fishing with my old dad, Anyway l didnt snap my rod this time and bugger me!l hooked a ten pound Murry Cod

I can tell by your fore-arms that is one hefty fish. Oh how I miss the summer. I hope to be spearfishing for flounder in the next couple of months.

If I am there, I won't be fishing then...I'l be lugging a chainsaw instead of a rod & reel LOL. RedGum hmmmm DROOL!!![:D][:p]
 
That's a beauty John! Enjoy! As with the rest of those who have chimed in from the Northeast U.S.A., we're all jealous of you in your shorts and short-sleeve shirt! We had about 2-3 inches of sleet/ice (not snow!) to dig out of this morning, and temps haven't been much above freezing for the last 3 weeks or so.

Sorry Dario to put you in pain[}:)] but yes this is Echucca red gum ( on Murray river ) who goin to finish in the steam boat belly[:(][xx(].

Nice Catch. Your Murry Cod looks pretty similar to our Large Mouth Bass here in the States. Coloring is off but the large mouth and body shape are similar. What does a cod eat? Our bass are predators that eat other fish and crustations primarily, though big ones have been known to eat ducklings, frogs, etc.

Serge it's a small world mate the photo you posted of the Emmelou'paddle steamer. Dad was the first wood cutter/wood supplier for her a long time ago.Also a freind help build her lve had one or two on the Emmelou dad lives in Cohuna not far from Echuca we fish the murry between Gunbower and Barham the foam esky is for the shrimp'live bait,the beer fridge was in the car.the oldman's making home brew at the moment its strong enough to blow ya bloody head off.[:p][:D]
 
Gary) the murray cod is the icon fish of the inland it is Australia's largest freshwater fish and indivduals can grow to over 100kg mine was a baby they are generally found in or near deep holes they hide under fallen timber clay banks
Drew) Murry Cod eat most of what you have said, a freind of dad's found a golf ball in one' we use bardy grubs, yabbies,shrimp,cheese,l caught this one with a 1'0 wide mouth hook 5kg line with live shimp and a small bit of cheese. We have closed sessions with cod Sep'Oct'Nov'in session's there are bag limits 2 fish per day at 50cm or 1 over 100cm mine was 75cm.[:D]
