After getting some cactus juice I spent a bit of time getting the rest of what I needed to make a vacuum chamber and (finally!) stabilized my first pieces.

I was using the better of the 2 HF pumps and was really surprised to see just how good of a vacuum I was able to get! The wood is from the 1740's so it took a good 2 hours of vacuuming, but in the end the blanks turned out good and hard, gaining nearly 50% weight. Looking forward to turning them this week :)
