OK, here are my first stabilized blanks.
The first picture are three spalted pecan.
The second picture are two briar burl. Briar burl is used for pipes, it has a great color and grain; but, lots of grub holes and bark inclusions, the first couple of attempts cracked, broke, looked bad. Hopefully this helps.
Read everybody's lessons learned, read and think before you start!!!
Two more lessons learned:
1. make sure the blanks are dry! Dry in an oven before you start.
2. two pieces of the pecan stuck together and had to be pulled apart, make sure that the blanks are not touching when you start.
