Well this is what I was doing before I got sick Thursday evening.I have had this set up (Makita 9000/second biggest chainsaw mill) for a couple months just had to find a big bar(only a 42",I need a 50"(anyone got one?).This is what I'm pretty sure is Chinese Elm looks much the same as American Elm,but the leaves on these trees are only 1-3" long and A. Elm have large leaves 4-6" long.I guess it could be a Siberian Elm as well anyways its pretty wood. This was all shorts that I got from a tree service free the best part was I had only to strap the logs to my trailer, they had a skid steer to load me.I did get a few okay mill logs that went to my buddy for furniture grade lumber.I will satke these off for a year and offer them locally next season. Not a large market for slabs but a good way to use odd shorts or large branch intersections.Oh these are a little over 3" thick they are a little rough but I had no helper so hold everything in place and firm is hard with the thing weighing about 80 lbs. and full of power. What do you think???This is what i will make next for the chainsaw.

Lumber Mill

Man, I have not seen one of those in years. I used one many years ago to help a friend make framing lumber for his garage.

Victor that's one nice looking grained and character log, man you are lucky to got that. Are going to cut it up for any pen blanks or just for furniture slabs?
It looks very nice even for a book mach veneer for furniture making project.

This is the guy I bought it from it was brand new and a good deal its 90cc the same as the stihl 066 or husqvarna 394/395.http://cgi.ebay.com/New-MAKITA-DCS-...=ViewItem&pt=US_Chainsaws&hash=item519425a83b
As far as I know its not related to walnut, but not a botanist either(just a dumb carpenter, lol). It has great grain but is more tan colored then walnut.
I do have some pen stuff cut up if anyone is interested I guess $.50 cents each?I will cut most of it into 3" slabs for desks/table type stuff. Thanks for checking it out,Victor
