I was in a training class at work and the facilitator was wielding a Euro so asked to see it and where she got it. I mentioned that I make pens and showed her mine. After class she asked me if I had any with me, which I did. It resulted in the sale of a Jr Gent BP and a Slim. What a feeling as this was my first sale to someone off the street, so to speak. I guess I need to get that web site up and running. Would it be advisable to set up an LLC or should I just go with DBA in my county?

First Congrats on the sale. That's got to feel great...

There are benefits to both LLC and DBA.

Currently a DBA works for me. Once my wife joins me, we will re-evaluate that. Your tax situation, income, employees or lack of and household are different. Talk to an accountant (that you trust). He or she should be able to go over both (and more) with you. Just my $.02

LLCs are nice but they can be expensive at first I believe that it can be several thousand by the time every thing is said and done, I just have a DBA and it works fine. The difference is that a LLC you are only liable for as much as you have invested in the company, With an LLc there is also additional cost of a business insurance associated with an LLC in case someone wants to sue you
