G'day

I am new to wood turning and thus new to pen turning. I have a very old lathe known as a Hyco. When I got this lathe it was in very bad shape with a nice brownie rusty colour.

Originally I was not sure if this was going to be fixed but it was a lot of fun giving it a go and getting this working. I have been turning between centers srcap wood as that's limited to what I have in relation to chisels. I picked up a pen mandel and slimline pen kits.

As a beginner turner I have been looking at completing little projects and so started with pen turning. I guess I will see what I come up with.

Thank you

Welcome Christos, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. Be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/library/general_reference/Getting_started_in_pen_turning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.

Thank you for the welcome. I think the standard that most men is to read instructions and once fully understood the task is undertaken.

The saying that I will use is rare as hens teeth.
