Just received the Jr Marshall kit from Karen at KJP and mated it with
a perfect Rosewood Burl blank from Chris at BestBurl.com http://bestburl.com/burl.html

Pen is for a fellow wood turner at Chesapeake Woodturners who is retiring
and moving to Maine.

Black Titanium kit - Rosewood Burl blank - wax only finish so that with use
the pen should develop a great patina

Great job Mike, I really like the kit & the Rosewood Burl looks like it has very nice figure. No doubt the retiree will be a proud owner.

I tried looking up bestburl.com and got a dead link. Can you put up a hyperlink?

thanks

Great looking pen!

You might want to inform the owner that a desired patina forms when it is constantly cleaned (and occasionally waxed) along with the normal handling. Otherwise hand dirt and body moisture from being in the shirt pocket will gravitate to the unfinished wood and leave stains as seen on uncleaned kitchen cabinet corners.

The perception of patina type of finish is often misunderstood. It is not developed by hand rubbing only, it is developed by constant cleaning while it is being rubbed. Most men don't realize this aspect because we don't run around the house with a cleaning cloth wiping each hand touched spot.

I haven't seen black titanium that light, but I haven't ordered any BT or new kits in a while. It sure looks good.

Beautiful pen. The kit, and the burl, are both nice, and they really set each other off. I wish your friend wasn't moving, as I'd love to see a pic of the pen after it gets that patina. Thanks for sharing.
