I used a silicone product from Alumilite. I learned in this process that bare wood is not the best material to be used for the reverse mold. Anyone know if I can paint something on the wood to keep the silicone from sticking or is it best to wrap the wood with saran wrap?

Put some sort of finish on the wood. Even a spray acrylic will work.
Then use a release before you pour. 90% mineral spirits and 10%
Vaseline makes a good general purpose release.

don't know if it's the same, but I just made a mold with silicone caulk and wrapped my wood frame and plywood negative in saran wrap. Worked great.

Charlie, Newlondon88, has it right on. Any good finish to protect the mold from getting into the wood then some release agent. Worked well for me and Charlie does it all the time.

I have used wood with a lot of Vaseline. I have also used saran wrap. The smoothest mold was with Vaseline.

Yep.. I just mix mine with mineral spirits because it makes it easier
to brush on. Then you let that evaporate. The Vaseline is the actual
release, not the mineral spirits.
Silicone retailers will admit this is the best release if you push
them. But first they'll try to sell you a can of spray release because
let's face it .. they're in business to sell you product. But the commercial
releases don't work any better (and some not as good) as vaseline.
