Had a 10.00 AM to 4.00PM craft sale in a small hall in town today. Didn't expect to sell much because there was another craft sale half a dozen blocks away on the same day so I chose this one .
Thought I was doing fine when I racked up $251.00 after table rent and lunch and then a lady came in half an hour before closing and bought 4 bowls totaling $168.00 bringing my grand total to $419.00
That was 14 bowls for an average of $29.92 each so I was quite pleased considering some vendors didn't even cover the price of their table.
Another smaller one on Saturday next week in a village and then a bigger one (I hope) week after that in the community complex in the nearest town .

Great table selection display you've got there mate...!

Talking about the old saying "There are lots of ways to skin a cat...!"

I seems you have found a smart way to sell your turning efforts, in the same area and the same people that, you were no longerwere getting much attention to, due to, "I already have it/them" "I've seen it so many times before" syndrome so, and while it still is a novelty, you will be doing well however, start thinking "outside the box" again William, is only a matter of time before the "syndrome" shows its nose again...!

The good thing is that, you already done it once so, you are perfectly capable to come up with something different and new, again, huh...???

As annoying as I may sound, you and many here know that, is all true, a big disadvantage in living in a small community but and as I said before, there "are ways" to make a buck to cover our hobby's expenses and leave a little left over as a bonus, all to be spent all again...!:biggrin:

Well done...!

Cheers
George

Really good result. Well done. Just goes to show that the show isn't over until you walk out the door. We often get people come into our craft outlet as we are trying to pack up. We NEVER turn them away.
Bob.

Thanks George .
Truer words were never spoken.
Of all the different forms of woodworking items I have made over the years most of them have fallen subject to the syndome you mentioned. These RM bowls will no doubt go the same direction. I was fortunate that those last four close to closing time for $168.00 went to a lady south of the border . I don't expect anyone to ever spend that much on that many bowls all in one purchase locally. Actually I expected a very slow day because it is way too early in my opinion for pre-Chistmas sales.

Yes , I am riding the 'syndrome' for as long as it lasts locally. One thing I am finding is that the product is so unique and well accepted with all the coloring and segmented effect that it attracts people to the display. I bumped my prices way up from when I had my first sale of them back in the summer.
There is also no competition with this style of bowls in the whole province of BC and probably for several other provinces east.
If the sales continue locally for a year or two as good as they are now and then drop off like pens and most other things did then I know that I will be able to move on to other areas within an hour drive and load up the car with 50 or so bowls and still make a good days return after expenses because it will be the uniqueness and novelty of it all over again just like it is here now while knowing that there will be no competition there either .

I keep a set of nested rings as in a flat board on the corner of my display table and then stack then up into a bowl arrangement in about two or three seconds to show people that every bowl there is indeed made from a flat board. I must have demonstrated tha 100 times today but it sure payed off in the amount of sales.
