Has anyone any axperience with finishing bocote, cocobolo or other similar oily woods? Is it true that only buffing is enough? I aim at a natural look/finish for a display pen and i cannot decide if some oil or pens plus would benefit them. Cheers

I've used a LOT of bocote. I just finished a small shelf. Two coats of General Finished HP. Very natural looking. Never had an issue with getting a finish on. Just sand to 220, raise the grain, and use 320 to knock the raised grain off.

Very nice looking shelf. Love the floor you've achieved with that finish. It's not overly shiny either.
