Finally after almost 9 months of being unemployed, I am rejoining the ranks of the employed as of Monday morning. I lost my job back in January as part of a major cutback at my old company. I took some time to myself and puttered around, spent alot of extra time with my kids over the summer to the point that they don't want to see me now....teenage girls you know. I also took some time and went to spend it with my mom, just her and I. But over the past two weeks I had been interviewing for a position and they called today at 12:45 and my unemployment came to an ABRUPT end.

I start Monday morning as a Manufacturing Supervisor concentrating on welding and metallurgy.

Sounds like you had your priorities in order and everything worked out well for you. Congratulations on the new job!

Congratulations Grant. I do have an idea of how you must have felt. I was laid off from my last job and it took me 8 very long months to find the job I've got now. The only upside to the long unemployment is that I realized that I was one of those idiots who defined himself by his job. At the time I was a bit of a workaholic and had no hobbies. That 8 months of unemployment opened my eyes to what retirement might be like. I now have two hobbies, woodturning and glass blowing and am open to finding a third.

Congrats on the Job!! I am in the same situation, My position was eliminated back in January. I did get a bit of good news this week, was offered a position at the University. Just waiting for the background check to come back, dont know why its taking so long, there is nothing there to find but im starting to get worried, its been three days...

Congrats again, I know it feels good.

Best of luck. Although I'm sure it will be your skill that wins the job, not luck.
