I got this from surplus at work.
PressurePot.jpg

This is my first attempt.

Fiberglass resin tinted with ceramcoat "Light Chocolate"

put some french roast coffee beans into my home made silicone caulk mold and poured in the resin until it was at the top.

Applied 50 PSI for 4 hours. Let sit over night and dry in the sun in the morning to get rid of the tackiness. (No Toaster oven yet)

I call it French Chocolate Coffee
Blank on top is turned down to 5/8" The beans want to pop out when turning. But other than that I think it turned out OK.
Blank on the bottom is what they look like when de-molded.

Now I just need to finish the component I've been working on to make it a pen.

Thanks for looking feel free to offer critiques questions ...

ONly major problem with using the resin for fiberglass is it tends to yellow and darken towards brown with time and age. with the coffee beans and color it may not matter. But be aware of that in the future castings!

Thanks for the tip.

I used what I had on hand from another project, I'm cheap like that. If these turn out OK, I may pursue other casting media.

I'll be using these for my personal use as I don't sell very many pens (a few on specific request, but I don't have regular customers or do shows) This is my Hobby and I want to keep it that way! I already lost a hobby to one career. I never write code for my personal enjoyment anymore as I do it daily to pay the mortgage, etc.

While I do enjoy what I do for a living, it does take some of the fun out of it and after an entire day writing code, the last thing I want to do when I get home is write more code. I don''t want woodworking or pen making to turn into that.
