Well, I am finally able to get back in my shop to work on some pens. I started a PITH exchange pen this afternoon for Gregory (.GFHWoodWerks).

For the last month my wife and I have been clearing a quarter acre of small trees, thick underbrush, and a couple of dead fell trees from a tornado a couple of years ago. I kept track of the scale readings at our local transfer station and it was just over 2 and a half tons -- lots of pickup loads! My last load for a while was this morning. Of course in the evenings I've kept busy fixing things, giving our garage a fall cleanup and winterizing. It's just a lot of little things, but they all seem to add up and take a lot of time.

I had a shop light go out this weekend so I bought a box of type B T8 LED bulbs and decided to re-wire the lights for ballast bypass as the ballasts go out. A lot of my lights are still running type A bulbs though. Now that the lights are back on and I can see, I was finally able to spin up my lathe.

Debris cleanup sucks!
It's gotta be done but…
We were cleaning here at the farm after Helene and Milton.
Guess who found a very big downed pile which turned out to be Poison Sumac!
And then, guess who watched a roughly 2' long Coral snake slither out of the shop and go under it!!
😖😖😖

I have those yard and "flower" tasks a lot, too. We have 2/3 of an acre in town, that is loaded with flowers. Mother Nature has just frozen them out now. It is with mixed emotion we threw them into the yardies. I was ready to be done with watering, but yet spent all summer caring and nursing them along. I guess there is other life to be lived that is not in our shops, but there are also other things that take priority, just not in OUR minds!!!! It's getting that time of year to get back in there tho......enjoy the shop time, my friend......
