The Feds raided Gibson Guitars yesterday afternoon for using protected wood from west Africa, I wonder what kind of wood it was. The CEO of Gibson is on the forest protective group, no mention as to what species it was but the officers carried out 8 or 9 Epiphone guitars, Why would Gibson be using rare protected wood in their cheaper guitars, doesn't make sense to me.

Well I guess that means I won't be getting the new Gibson L-5 in Rosewod I wanted for Christmas I guess I'll live, my wife was only going to kick in 5.00 and I hAD TO FISH UP THE 14,995, We were at the Memphis factory they had a 1595.00 cherry sunburst L-5 for 12,200 with case out the door, but I was still a few shekels short,:frown:
Those are still one of the best jazz guitars on the market.

The L-5 is what I played when I was there. I rocked on it for about 20 minutes, then looked at the price tag. Nearly wet my pants.
