On the way back from NYC with my class for our annual trip we stopped in Washington, DC, for an afternoon. As I as walking around the National Mall I noticed a huge number of nice burls on the many of the trees there. I was wishing I had my chain saw with me but since that is federal land and also a national park (I think) I would imagine it would a federal offense and maybe a terrorist act to cut one, but they were nice burls. I wonder who I need to ask permission from? [8D]

Not when lawyer$ are involved. Of course, there are less of the Federal ones around these days.[;)][:D]

Hey!! It's a start!!

OK, so after thinking about it here is my plan. I'm going to buy two of those fake FBI black t-shirts from the street vendors with matching black ball caps. I'll put on some dark glasses and carry two of my walkie-talkies from work. I'll do the cutting while I get a volunteer to wear the other shirt and carry the other walkie-talkie to cover me. If anyone asks what we are doing we will tell them it's a secret FBI mission for national safety, and they need to back away. By the time anyone official sees us we can be gone and cutting up the burls. Any volunteers to help with this? [:)]

Be careful...the satellite tracking is pretty sophisticated these days, and I bet they wouldn't hesitate to use it for tree thieves.
