I was challenged by my brothers to run with them in a 5K. I completed it this morning. I have not run in decades until recently and this was the first 5k. I used to run all the time in college. I did not make it all the way running, about 3/4ths and walking some but I ran across the finish line. I came in 529th....but I was not last!

Now for some aleve and maybe some ice packs!

My knees and feet can't handle running anymore. Surfing every day for years tears up those parts of your body.

Congrats on finishing it!

Don, which parts are we talking about, last I checked I had mine all there, LOL. But, I understand buddy that's part of getting old that's why we are here. You go with the flow man. Everything in life is suposed to give little by littlw, of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. No offense any of the guys and gals that don't fit this bill.

Yeah, I think it worked out... The opportunity to move to Colorado happened just about when the pain in my knees and feet started to be enough that I wasn't enjoying being on the water any more. 30 years of surfing = next to useless feet and knees.

Congrats Mark... the last time I actually ran just for the sake of running was about 2 years before you were born. I did run a few years after you was born when my brother in law (who is about 5 or 6 years younger than me) and I walked up to see a fire in a little Oklahoma town that turned out to be a gas station on fire and one of the tanks exploded... my BIL was yelling "run, run" but I couldn't hear him.... I was too far away and I waited where I stopped for him to go back and get his company truck to come pick me up...:biggrin:

My body isn't designed for running. In fact the last ime I actually ran, it was because of bad food the night before!!!!:biggrin:

Glad you finished. For 20 yrs I ran cause I had to. When I retired I quit. Now that I can't I want to. Guess I'll just keep aging and getting bigger (fatter)! lol

You all always make me laugh...if there were a 5 meter event, I would have run it.....I checked the stats and realized that, for my age bracket, of the 5 people I beat, 3 were relatives that walked the course.

I have decided that I am an endurance athlete......the young guys that finished in 15 minutes don't have near the stamina to go for as long as I did.
