I got into fantasy baseball last year and have found it to be quite enjoyable. So this year, I thought it would be fun to set up a league with other IAP members. I have set up a private fantasy baseball league at ESPN.com. It is free and uses the standard ESPN scoring system (10 team roto, 5 batting categories, 5 pitching categories). If you would like to join, please pm me with your email address. My only requirement is that you must be an active IAP member.

No prizes or wagers - just for fun and bragging rights :)

All slots have been reserved and invitations have been sent. Please make sure you follow the link in the invitation and click 'Join this league' to confirm your team and begin preparations.

I will make a trophy for the winner of the league.

Thank you
Stan

A trophy very cool it will look good on my dresser(lol).Check out this one I made for my poker league what do you think. Thanks Stan for setting this up I have missed playing the past few years. Now ESPN's free league is actually done a half year at a time if I remember correctly???Its really easier to stay focused that way and you also get two winners a year. Thanks again,Victor

Oh boy the trash talking is starting already! Gee Victor you sound like a yankees fan  (not that there is anything wrong with that....)

No I'm Tigers fan American league and a die hard Cubs fan in the National(The only league that's any good, lol).I hate the Yanks.Cubs/Tigers world series would be a dream come true.Victor

It runs the entire season. August and September are interesting - teams start giving playing time to rookies so stats for some established players start to fall off. So your team can climb or fall quite a bit in the standings.

Tigers? Cubs? Aren't they the teams that make it to the playoffs and never win the Series?

Chicago White Sox....now there's a true underdog. Everyone loves the Cubs and I cannot figure out why. They stink.

The Tigers...not so bad, but they are in the WS division so the only time I root for them is when they beat the competition and we move up in the standings.

Too bad I missed the league. If anyone drops out, let me know. I would love to play.

White Sox's if they didn't have an idiot for a manager, that guy is a fool in my book.I think the Cubs are an underdog seeing as they have not won a world series since 1908(I think).I do like the half season leagues much better due to the reason you mentioned about rookies getting starts.Victor

I am not the biggest Ozzie fan. Managers come and go. He definitely keeps it interesting.

As far as the Cubs being the underdog, I am still not sure that I buy it. An underdog is not just a losing team. They are the ones with less support, less resources and usually lack the talent that would be necessary to make it all the way. The Cubs have an ample fan base. They fill the dang stadium up every game. They have plenty of payroll. They also have the talent. The Cubs, and I am sorry if I am insulting anyone, just are losers.

They are even known as the "Loveable Losers".

Need I say more.

The fan base is only due to great marketing, and being broadcast all over the US(cable). This is why I'm a Cubs fan is I had cable in 1987 when Andre (the hawk) Dawson hit 47/49 home runs, and I bet money he did it without the steriods like BigMac did.I could not be happier when The Hawk made the hall of fame.Victor
