I don't know what has change in my life, but I seem to like having some family time more than ever. To be honest with you we really haven't ever just had family time. Lately we have spent more time together and had some great laughs with the kids. Don't get me wrong there is still the argument here and there (especially with the almost 18 year old).

Last night we went and cut our Christmas tree together. It was a great time. Cold as all get out and dark, but still fun. Kids ran around the field yelling this one, no this one, no that one. Finally the wife just picked one and told me to start cutting before someone changed their mind. Of course just like every year they pick the one in the North 40 and I have to drag it forever. I did find out one thing that I had never realized though. Trees look alot smaller until you get them in the house. We have cathedral ceilings and this thing is still huge. Had to take the chainsaw to it to get it to be able to fit.

Happy Holidays everyone and enjoy your time with your family. You never know what the next day will bring.

I am glad you are getting to enjoy making memories with your family! Years from now your children will remember those special times. I remember going out and cutting our trees in the woods, those are some of the best memories I have.

Thanks Dustin!

Family time is so important! I have been concentrating more on my family lately. Although that takes me away from the shop some, it is amply worth it! Rather than kids, in my household it's just us old farts. But my Dad, who lives with us, turned 92 last week. And my Wife has been having some back problems lately, and it has been nice to spend more quality time with her. Family, whatever form it takes, is the best and most lasting investment we can make!

Have a Merry Christmas!

Scott.

I think we all got a visual on how it went. I'm sure cousin "Eddie" will appreciate it when he visits! The older I get I'm realizing how much more important the family times mean to me. Great story and thanks for sharing.

Amen to that.

My 6 yr old daughter (the angel in my avatar) spends almost as much time in my shop as I do. She's got her own little set of tools and she loves to build "stuff"....what an imagination. It just doesn't get any better than this.....wait, that sounds familiar.:)

Amen, Dustin. Chris, my 4 yo son has 'real' tools (the plastic ones just don't cut it!). He and my 5 yo daughter take scrap 2x4's and what ever and just have a ball. When my son is looking for something to do, he'll say, "I wish some one would go out in the garage". I have a small gas heater out there that I light in the cold mornings, so they can go out of the house. My wife calls me sometimes and says, "you should see these two!". Grace (11) has started turning pens, so there is some time with her. Gotta love it!

My 10 year old made a plane a couple years ago just finding my scraps that he liked the shape of and started gluing them together. He keeps showing it to his friends saying it his and I quietly remind him it's on my wall so it's mine to keep.
