Howdy dudes & dudettes... I don't know if someone else has posted something similar to this in a different thread, but to tell you the truth, I don't have the energy to look!!! Forgive me if they have!!! I just hope everyone down here in our area got thru this ok.We were without power until the Wed/24th. Our neighbors let us use a line off their generator a couple of days after the storm. We ended up buying one probably on the Tuesday after the storm/hurricane....whatever.

5000w generator $650
ext.cords gas tanks, etc. $145
gas for generator $150
planks for fence repair $100 ....some I fixed 3 months ago after a different storm
my wife,sis-n-law, not injured and our house being spared, plus my younger brother & family not being injured..... $priceless

I'm sorry to keep you guys boring, listening to this stuff, but my brother is going thru a big ordeal. My dad remarried about 4 yrs ago, my mom died about 11 yrs ago. Anyways, my younger bro. Kevin bought my dad's house (built in late 1950's) Anyway, the oak tree was huge when I used to play baseball in the backyard during the 60's & 70's. Earlier this year I was at his house & noticed,...geez that tree is huge!!! It went thru what use to be my bedroom when I was a kid/teenager. Probably 5ft thick at least, probably bigger, anyways, here's the pics, He works probably 60 hrs/wk, she works for HISD, the insurance co. got them an apartment anyway. Anyways, they're going thru a hard time, please pray for them. Thanks all, hope everyone else is ok, or at least going to be ok!! Would love to hear from you.....again sorry if this is a type of repost.

We were without power for 18 days. We did have our generator hooked up direct to our breaker box which gave us plenty of power for exerything but the A/C.

Of course, we were plenty tired of listening to the noise of the generator and the daily runs for gasoline. We spent over $700 just for the gasoline. We also wired in the shop so I could work out there and make a few pens.

Yard clean-up by our lawn people was $140 but it took 4 guys over 4 hours to get all the limbs and debris dumped at the street for the county. We took a huge hickory limb through the roof of our greenhouse but that's gotta come down soon. But no real damage to anything.

As hurricanes go, it wasn't too bad. We should get at least 5-6 years now with no worries.

Ron, glad you made it OK. We got to get together sometime soon. I got plenty of time, just let me know.

FWIW, we, down here by the space center had a lot of trees down. One across our driveway but houses on both sides had trees on/through their roofs. Lot's of fences down, lot's of tree limbs down, many messy yards, however.....we never lost power. Guess that's because bought a generator about a month before Ike. No worry, it did get a work-out by a freind that wasn't as lucky with the power situation.
Wife's office, now that's another story for later.

Ron, really glad to see you all came out ok. I have some friends in Houston and Katy that were both spared any great hardship. Keep the faith and we'll pray for your bro.
