Well this little piece of wood followed me home the other night....

I just had to turn it. The top is curly maple, the hollow form is resin vein eucalyptus burl.
I fixed the colors, so now it is correct. I wonder if another one of these will follow me home soon?

The more of these I see the more I want to start turning something besides pens. If I may ask....What kind of lathe do you use?

I have a jet 1442. I will admit I do kick myself for not getting the 1642. The digital vs is a nice feature, and the 16" swing is more a standard for accessories.

John, any time you want to send up a tree from down there, let me know! I love the colors in the wood.

Truthfully, I don't spend as much time as I should turning. Life, and playtime gets in the way a lot. Right now I am getting ready for 2 of the major shows I do during the year so I have been turning almost constantly. So far I am averaging 5-6 pieces a week. Cross your fingers for Sunday for me!
