Warning: Rant below, read at own risk.:eek:

I had to place an order with one of the main suppliers because they were the only ones who had what I needed. Their shipping choices only involved UPS and I went with the cheapest one for $7.50. I received an email today that my items shipped through USPS, which normally would make me happy as they are faster. But the problem I have is that the items would fit in a small envelope and I know that the postage should only cost $4.75. I just don't understand why a company would operate like that. If they have the means to ship USPS, then I would think they could offer that. Instead they take $3.75 extra from me for something they don't provide.

Sorry for the rant but I cracked a blank and then see that email and it kinda burned me a little. I'm not naming the company because few like dealing with them and I don't want this to turn into a bash the company thread. And no, it's not Steebar:eek:, lol. Thanks for letting me rant, I actually feel better.

I've had . . .

I've had this happen to me a few times with different suppliers . . . In two of the cases I called.

The reason given, if you don't choose some sort of special "fast" delivery method they go with what is most practical at the time. . . . People in the shipping department have one goal, get it out! ! !

In both cases I called they told me that UPS had already picked-up for the day, and rather than hold up a shipment, out the door it went via USPS . . . .

I would have no problem contacting them and telling them of your concerns and asking them how they would like to handle it. I have done this a number of times when things were not as advertised/expected and with very few exceptions I have been able to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Just a thought...

Two things.
Where you paying for "Shipping" or "Shipping and Handeling"? the difference covers just about anything they want to charge.

More importantly, although many of us are very familiar with what USPS charges we are quickly aware that when we are charges $7.50 for priority flat rate there is a considerable extra charge on there. UPS maybe not so much familiarity. In times that I have compared UPS to USPS the charges come out very close to the same.

Well, I went back and looked at my email invoice and all it says is Shipping: Ground Shipping - $7.50 but nothing about shipping and handling . I will call them tomorrow but I have a feeling that it's going to be one of those oh, well things. What sucks is this one of the big three suppliers. I wish that USPS was listed as an option with them and with one other supplier I won't mention. I hate UPS because of the cost and wait time. Most of the time with USPS I can have something within 2-3 days from anywhere in the lower 48 but UPS normally takes over a week to get to me from a neighboring state and it costs more and gets damaged more often. A lot of times I just order one or two things and hate to pay the base UPS charge. But I will see what they say tomorrow and let you all know. Thanks again for listening to me rant. Been a bad day - forgot to paint a tube and when I turned it half of the blank is nearly clear, and then I cracked it, lol. I just hope the customer can wait for me to get one more blank (of course the blank cost less then the shipping).

Rob, it sounds like your package hasn't arrived yet. Maybe when it does the invoice included will show actual shipping. I just had this experience with PSI. The online invoice showed what I thought was a bit high shipping charge. When my package arrived the included invoice had a lower actual charge for shipping. Needless to say I was pleased that they automatically made the correction to my bill. Perhaps you will have the same experience.

Well I know they already took the full amount out of my checking account. Now if they do a credit then I will be tickled pink (see Cav in his uniform for an example.) I might wait and see when I get the actual invoice.

Some companies don't like to cram items into a flat rate envelope just because it saves a few bucks and prefer to pack them in a box instead for safe transport.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if the package arrived via priority mail in a box! In which case you got a break on the shipping PLUS didn't have to deal with UPS, which you dislike.

Could be a win-win situation rather than a rant eh? Do let us know what it arrives in, and if in an $8.95 priority box... will you send them the difference?

I hate Shipping AND Handling.... On my website I include 'Shipping' within my price, makes things alot easier and the buyer doesn't have another cost to figure out when buying.
