Just wandering if anybody has used either epoxy or wood hardner to cast with? I think I read somewhere ,where someone used one or the other, or am I dreaming.
The reason I ask is that I have the 2 on hand and don't need a gal. of the good stuff to go bad as it will have to set until late dec. Plus tool and supply buying funds will have to come later this year.
PS not as a solid but with objects within. Maybe like a pine cone, or not quite as solid but almost. Anybody that has tried or had any good luck or bad ,I would be thankful.

The very first cactus blanks that I made were cast with epoxy as were the first worthless wood blanks. It worked ok but not as well as the Alumilite that I now use. It did not turn as well and I had problems with too much heat being generated since I was not using a casting epoxy and the stuff I was using was not designed to be cast that thick.

Wood hardener will never set up for casting.

Thanks Curtis ,what I am trying to do is to test some filler for casting. I might just try both until I have more time this winter and next spring. Maybe I can at least work out how my new ideal for a filler will work as far as how it looks after being turned, I have not seen anything like it used for a filler before.
